ROLF CREMER
PROJECT : ACROBAT CHAIR
GERMANY, 2010
Acrobat’s flowing lines conceal a playful and serious nature. The ingenious system allows you to switch easily between active and passive seating comfort. Designer Louis de Limburg Stirum drew Acrobat in one flowing line, the back and the seat form a whole. "Children rocking in their chair have always got on my nerves (laughs). True, rocking is fun but often you also break the chair. So I decided to find a solution for this. As always I departed from ‘forms follows function’. You can also lock the rocking function if you want to turn it into an ‘ordinary’ chair. And because you can rock on one axis you create playful-looking dynamic lines.
